- Leave your saniderm (Tattoo protectant/ wrap) on for up to 1-5 days. The bandage may fill up with body fluids called plasma. This is completely normal so don't panic!
Your bandage is also waterproof so there is no need to worry about it getting wet during showers.
- NEVER touch your tattoo unless you have clean hands. Germs & bacteria are everywhere.
A healing tattoo needs to be properly cared for.
- When you are ready to remove the protective wrap it is best to do this in the shower. Place your tattoo under cold or lukewarm water & slowly remove the bandage carefully.
- Avoid taking off the bandage DRY. Immediately wash your tattoo with antibacterial soap (DIAL ANTIBACTERIAL SOAP, DO NOT USE ANY OTHER SOAP). Wash two times a day!
- You will then gently massage the tattoo & build up a good sud & make sure IT IS NOT SLIMY! NEVER USE A RAG OR LOOFA or anything but your hand to wash the tattoo.
- Rinse the tattoo well & pat dry with a clean paper towel.
- Apply a small amount of Aquaphor, A&D, ect. to the tattoo once or twice per day for a week for proper healing.
- After a week, apply a small amount of UNSCENTED LOTION to keep moisturized (Eucerin, Hustle Butter, Aveeno, or Lubriderm Fragrance Free recommended) NEVER use any OILS, or ANTI-ITCH CREAMS.
- Repeat the washing & ointment steps twice a day until your tattoo is healed. If your tattoo appears dry in between washes apply lotion as needed.
DO NOT wrap or re-bandage a tattoo once the saniderm is removed!
- If you have a reaction to the saniderm or it comes off before desired time, please contact your artist.
- Your tattoo may peel, flake, or itch. This is normal. Be sure NOT to pick or scratch the tattoo as that may damage the new skin, & use NO anti-itch creams.
- NO submerging in water (no bath, pools, hot tubs OR ANY BODIES OF WATER! Showers only!) as well as no sun exposure or tanning beds.
- Avoid working out, gyms, or excessive sweating while the tattoo heals.
- Wear loose, breathable clothing during healing & avoid clothing/bedding sticking to it if possible. Extra care & precautions needs to be considered for high movement areas.
- If you have any other questions or concerns please contact your artist.
